Geisinger Health Plan
Project Manager
Brenda Machuga is a proactive, performance-driven professional who manages the implementation of software and vendor packages, including teams of developers, contactors, testers, and subject matter experts. Ms. Machuga specializes in the request for proposal process from creation to vendor selection. Other specialties include project crisis management and corporate training. She has a keen understanding of business priorities, and takes pride in being a genuine team player as well as a cross-functional communicator.

After managing projects for over a decade on behalf of various businesses and nonprofit organizations, she earned her Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification in 2015. She is a double alumna from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, with an undergraduate degree in mass communications, and a master’s degree in instructional technology. She also holds certifications in Crucial Conversations, MS Project, and NTTA Project Management Essentials.

At present, Ms. Machuga is a project manager for Geisinger Health Plan. She has implemented new software and several new processes, including onboarding and communication and training. She manages and mentors graduate-level student interns and junior-level staff members. She is currently engaged in converting the entire business to a new telecommunications system—using a phased approach to convert more than 10,000 phones, 4,000 employees, and 1,000 telephone customer service agents to new hardware and software.

Ms. Machuga is an active member of the Corporate Advisory Council for the Institute of Instructional Technology at Bloomsburg University, as well as the Columbia County Young Professionals Group. She enjoys outdoor activities with her husband of 13 years and their three dogs. Ms. Machuga and her husband often travel to enjoy new scenery, culture, and experiences. These trips help her learn to relate with different types of people, and to see situations from others’ perspectives. While home, she takes pleasure in reading books while relaxing on the deck.
