Kathy Milhauser has 15 years of  university teaching experience, most recently as a professor of management at Concordia University in Portland, OR, USA, where she teaches undergraduate and MBA courses and oversees the project management concentration in the MBA. Prior to beginning her academic career, Ms. Milhauser worked for over 20 years at Nike, where she contributed to global expansion in the areas of IT and HR, including leading a variety of technology and process improvement initiatives. While at Nike, she first began to ponder the role of technology in bringing distributed teams together to collaborate virtually. This interest was pursued as she transitioned from industry to academia, and has provided the focus for continued research and application. Her interests include project management, distributed/virtual team challenges and best practices, and organizational culture and change. She has published and presented papers on these topics, including at two PMI Global Conference events in recent years, and also published an edited book, “Distributed Team Collaboration - Emerging Tools and Practices,” for IGI Global Publishing in 2011.
